Costa Rica Extension to Morgan's Rock Hacienda & Ecolodge in Nicaragua

Morgan’s Rock Hacienda and Ecolodge is located just north of the Costa Rican border and the beaches of Guanacaste can be observed from the Morgan’s Rock beach. Access from Costa Rica is easy either by ground transport crossing the border at Penas Blancas or by Nature Air flights from San Jose or Liberia into Granada. While Costa Rica is already a fairly mature destination, Nicaragua is an up and coming tourism magnet that is described by the experienced traveler as “ Costa Rica, 25 years ago.”

The combination of a vacation in Costa Rica and Nicaragua is ideal due to the fact that Costa Rica is a natural paradise and Nicaragua is full of culture and history. After a stay at Lapa Rios Ecolodge in the tropical rainforest of the Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica and a relaxing stay at the luxurious Si Como No or Flor Blanca resorts in Manuel Antonio or Santa Teresa, a visit to Morgan’s Rock with the possibility to explore Nicaragua’s colonial gem Granada seems like the ideal travel itinerary for a Central American vacation.

Nicaragua’s Pacific beaches are also considered to be some of the region’s most beautiful. They are a natural extension of the beaches in Guanacaste, Costa Rica with little rain and lots of sunshine. At Morgan’s Rock, guests have a tropical beach all to themselves making the ecolodge also one of Nicaragua’s only upscale beach resorts.

Many guests fly into San Jose, spend a night at boutique hotels like Finca Rosa Blanca, Grano de Oro or Xandari, before heading north to Nicaragua connecting by Nature Air through Liberia. Other guests chose to fly into the more and more popular airport in Liberia located just a few hours south of Morgan’s Rock. For more information on how to get from Costa Rica to Nicaragua, please refer to http://www.morgansrock.com/travel_logistics.html.

Morgan’s Rock is also a popular excursion for guests staying at the new Four Seasons Resort at the Papagayo Peninsula in Guanacaste. Traveling from Four Seasons, Costa Rica via Liberia to Morgan’s Rock takes about 3 hours. Based at Morgan’s Rock Hacienda & Ecolodge guests can take day trips to Granada and Masaya or just explore the hacienda with its variety of eco and agro based activities such as kayaking, horseback riding, reforestation tour or a visit to the traditional sugar mill.

Traveling in Nicaragua is considered as safe as or possibly even safer than traveling in Costa Rica.

Ondine Cohane in Conde Nast Traveler, March 2005:
"I go for a long sunset swim off the beach at Morgan's Rock and feel as though the whole Pacific were mine alone."
