Morgan's Rock Hacienda and Ecolodge Nicaragua

Source: About.com • Date: December 2011
Author: Lars Hanna

Despite years of peace and stability, Nicaragua has yet to appear on many American travelers' radar. Compared to Costa Rica next door, there is a dearth of high-end properties. But things are starting to change — and leading the way is Morgan’s Rock, an eco-lodge spread around a broad cove on the Pacific Coast.

Now that the holidays are a distant memory, the “charm” of winter has long worn off, and you just can’t stomach the idea of a late-season snowstorm, tis the season to head south for a winter vacation. Birds and lily ponds fill the lagoon on our kayaking trip. The cuisine is amazing. Just thinking about their cashew and coconut pancakes makes me salivate....

The ecolodge Morgan’s Rock, located a stone’s throw away from San Juan del Sur, offers a radically different experience. The echoes of the wildlife, along with the thundering sound of the crashing waves and the moderate sea wind, cool off the lodge’s cabins, all specifically designed to reap Mother Nature’s blessings without impacting the ecosystem’s delicate balance.
