| As travelers who want adventure as well as fun on our vacations, we feel fortunate to have visited Nicaragua and stayed at Morgan’s Rock. We appreciated the beautiful, ecologically sensitive architecture and our close encounters with an amazing variety of wildlife; we managed to see a violaceous trogan, a ctenosaur, amazing butterflies, howlers everywhere and more. We loved that there is a farm on the property that is the source for some of our meals.
We spent as much time as we could in the ocean and exploring the property. Our experience was enhanced by an incredible staff. It would be tough to find a more friendly and accommodating group anywhere. The staff at Morgan’s Rock is second-to-none. We look forward to returning to Morgan’s Rock. It is truly a one-of-a-kind place that could teach other resorts a thing or two about luxury, service and careful stewardship of the environment. As you know, our website Notes from the Road has been arguing against a golf mega-development on an ecosensitive islet in the Bahamas. Our motivation in visiting Morgan’s Rock was to seek out the apex of how luxury tourism should be developed today. The story we brought back was part of our efforts which brough Jean-Michel Cousteau, the Sierra Club and many others to help our cause.
A few details about Morgan’s Rock don’t get as much attention as they deserve. First, as we like to think of ourselves as food connoisseurs, we found the meals at Morgan’s Rock among the very best. You cannot beat those soups, made with ingredients grown only acres away, or the detail in preparation of every meal. Second, the architecture at Morgan’s Rock is stunning. Photographs cannot capture the amazing villas on the premise, which are like tree-houses. We found that we could simply sit on the deck and watch for wildlife through the trees. Third, there is so much to do (or not do) at Morgan’s Rock, that it felt as though you could spend weeks here without scratching the surface of what is possible at the property.
Perhaps the two hidden joys of Morgan’s Rock are the labryrinths of mangroves, where we saw birds and butterflies we are still trying to identify, and the beach itself. But in the end, it’s our conversations with the staff that we talk about the most.

Morgans Rock in Nicaragua's San Juan Del Sur region was absolutely incredible! The attention to detail, comfort, luxury and service received from all the staff at Morgand Rock was, in my opinion, second to none(and I am quite fussy!).
1) The fact that Morgans Rock has not yet been found out by all the holidaymakers makes Morgans Rock a perfect getaway for honeymooners like ourselves or anyone else wanting a quiet, relaxing or romantic holiday away from the maddening crowds of tourists.
2) Take earplugs as the waves crashing on the beach in the silence of night can leave you with little sleep. Luckily we always take earplugs on holiday and so we slept like babies!
3) Absolutely, Morgans Rock is an eco-lodge and lives up to that function very well. All the staff are locals and we felt that Morgans Rock management take a great deal of interest in their well being and career development.
4) Without a doubt, I will give Morgans Rock a full 5 stars *****.

To all of our new and very dear friends at MR. we didn´t know where to begin…… all of you have touched our lives in a way you cannot image. We arrived in Nicaragua as a couple very much in love and we are leaving this beautiful place as an engaged couple.
A marriage proposal is a landmark in a persons life and we all blessed to have had this landmark take place in the beauty of Nicaragua and the comfort and friendship of Morgan`s Rock.

We were only here for 2 nights… no enough, but the experience was
remarkable. I loved reading the binder that you leave in the rooms
regarding the history of this place and of the country and its people in
general. The staff is so kind and happy to be working here that makes
all of it so much more special. Oscar is fabulous, Andréa and Roberto
also. Gabriella is a great massage therapist. I loved the massage area.
I will plan to return soon. Muchas gracias! Vaughan

Dear Morgan's Rock,
Our family stayed at Morgan's Rock in late August 2005 and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We were, I believe, your first guests from Hong Kong and maybe even Asia. We learnt of your resort through an article in the Hong Kong South China Morning Post magazine dated either the 29 May or 5 June 2005. I have not been able to locate that article to send to you. However several days ago the attached article on Nicaragua appeared in the SCMP and I thought you may be interested to have it. If we see any other articles which mention Morgan's Rock we will send them to you.
Best wishes
Kate Budge

"Their nick-name for the Land Rover was Hurraca the Spanish name for a bird that is white and blue and has a crown on its head. On my walk that morning while crossing the suspension bridge from my bungalow to the lodge at Morgan’s Rock" - Read more about this testimonial... Morgan«s Rock really exceeded our expectations (and they were pretty high)! It was not all that easy to get there, but it sure was worth it. We took a small plane from San Jose to Liberia and then to Granada. As the plane neared Granada, everyone was a little shocked as we started making our way into the landing strip, which was just a dry grassy field.
We bumped along on the grass until arriving at the ¬terminal which was a small room set up as an immigration booth. Only in India have we ever been this thoroughly searched! Wow! There were 2 others on our flight that were also going to Morgan«s Rock, so the 4 of us followed our driver to our SUV vehicle to begin our 2 hour drive to the lodge. We arrived after dark, after half an hour of a very bumpy road towards the end of the drive.
The lobby of the main lodge was beautifully lit and we were completely disoriented except for the loud crashing and pounding of the ocean out in one direction. We walked across a very long suspension bridge out to our bungalow. As we walked inside, we were told "I know you can«t see it right now, but I can tell you that you have the room with the best view!" He was right, we couldn’t«t see a thing, but the sound of the ocean in front of us was so loud that we didn’t doubt him. The room was incredible! Made of mostly ceder, eucalyptus, mahogany, rose wood and palm branches, it was open on 3 sides with floor to ceiling screens to keep out the insects (well, most of them anyway). It had a huge bed with soft linens, fluffy towels, porcelain sinks, flush toilet, hot water and tile floors. The lighting was dim and the sounds of forest were all around us.
Thought the night we were occasionally awoken to the loud crashing of waves below us and strong wind through the trees, but we woke up at dawn to the most spectacular 180 degree view! Small green and yellow parrots chirped outside on the branches and pelicans dove into he water that expanded out in front of us. Coffee was deliver to our room and was waiting outside our door.
We sat on the balcony over looking the lapping waves and the amazing lush forest surrounding the area. As you know, the lodge is very secluded - the closest town is almost an hour away. It consists of 1800 hectors of pristine, protected forest and is a working farm which supplies all the fresh food served in the restaurant, except for the fish which is caught each morning. We spent our 3 days there, swimming off the private beach at 7 in the morning, kayaking through mangrove rivers, and walking through the forest, where we saw armadillo, huge iguanas and dozens of howler monkeys swinging over our heads. It was an incredible place and we both decided it tops our list of best places we have ever stayed.

"What an incredible opportunity to stay here at Morgan's Rock before it is open! The owners & staff have been amazingly gracious and accommodating. The beauty and peace of the place is reflected in the beauty of the buildings and art, the mission of the finca is reflected in the "live light on the land", environmental sensitivity that is reflected in the day-to-day actions of Morgan's Rock and the story that is told here. We (my husband, 12-year old son, and I) did the hikes and saw fantastic things - from white-faced monkeys to sloth to golden orb spiders to incredible views - I had a wonderful horseback ride with the excellent biological staff, Leo & Juan are knowledgeable, fun & charismatic! Had a great trip to Granada & surrounds. We will be back to visit the mahogany trees we planted !
Thank you for such an incredible experience.

"Two days in Morgan's Rock is definitely not enough time. As I lay on the beach about to move on in the remainder of our vacation, I did not want to leave. After a taste of paradise, our next destination has a lot to live up to. The vision and idea of this place are sure to be a huge success with all whom are blessed with the opportunity to visit. I wish you all the best as you open your doors. Thank you for the magnificent experience, see you again soon. "This is as good as it gets".

"The warm soft sand on my feet, the sea around my ankles, the sun on my face, the wind through my hair, my hand in his, just the two of us...he leans closely and whispers in my ear..."This is as good as it gets".
I reply with a gentle kiss, look back out to the sea and am so ever thankful for the amazing memories !
Thank You Morgan's Rock.

Morgan's rock is that shangri-la we all dream about but are too cynical
to imagine that it is really real. It is as a dream, lingering in my
conscious mind. I must return to prove to myself that it exists. Serene
and other wordly it has cast its spell on me forever. I feel very
privileged to have seen Morgan's Rock in its early opening stage. I
hope I revisit the place and the people

We had a great time at Morgan's rock. The service was excellent and very attentive. The rooms were really nice and the waves very noisy!
The kids and us loved the beach and pool and I had shrimp for lunch, dinner and lunch again... could not get enough of them! We enjoyed everything.
Thanks again.

"Without question, these are the most beautiful grounds of any hotels we have ever stayed. The beach is perfect and we look forward to our next visit when the palapas will be finished. The design of the entire hotel is genius the way it blends into the hillside.
Thank you for a perfect vacation!
