You can reach Morgan’s Rock by road from Managua (around 3 hours) or from Granada (about 1.5 hours), and the lodge is also within driving distance of the Costa Rican border. Morgan’s Rock features 15 secluded bungalows and 3 ocean-view two-bedroom villas with private pools. Some units offer plunge pools and all are designed in a natural, barefoot-luxury style, surrounded by jungle and overlooking the forest or the Pacific Ocean.

Yes, Wi-Fi is available in the property, but Morgan’s Rock is designed as a nature retreat rather than a business hotel. Connectivity can be more limited than in an urban setting, which many guests appreciate as part of the digital-detox experience.

You can enjoy a wide range of nature and adventure activities: hiking through different forest ecosystems, wildlife watching, horseback riding, biking, kayaking through mangroves and estuaries, snorkeling, surfing and other water sports, as well as yoga, spa and wellness experiences. Morgan’s Rock is home to a protected beach where sea turtles nest and hatch throughout the year. While sightings can never be guaranteed, certain times of the year offer better chances to witness nesting or baby turtles making their way to the ocean. Our team can advise you on the current season and any conservation activities taking place during your stay. 

Sustainability is at the core of Morgan’s Rock. Roughly half of the 4,000-acre property is a private reserve, and the rest is low-impact agricultural and sustainable forest land. The lodge leads reforestation projects, supports wildlife conservation (including sea turtle protection), and works closely with local communities and farms. Construction and operations have been designed to minimize environmental impact while supporting local livelihoods. 

The main restaurant overlooks the bay and serves fresh, seasonal cuisine inspired by Nicaraguan and Central American flavors. A large portion of the ingredients come from Morgan’s Rock’s own farm—dairy, eggs, fruits, vegetables and sustainably sourced seafood—offering a true farm-to-table experience. The kitchen can usually accommodate many dietary preferences and restrictions (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, etc.); please inform us in advance so we can prepare accordingly. 

Morgan’s Rock is a year-round destination. The drier months typically offer more sunshine and clearer skies, while the green season brings lush vegetation, dramatic sunsets and fewer crowds. Wildlife can be seen throughout the year, and certain natural events—such as turtle nesting—may be more frequent in specific months. The property is large and set on rugged, hilly terrain, with bungalows and villas connected by paths, stairs and walkways. This natural layout is part of the experience, but it may be challenging for guests with significant mobility limitations.
